new post - no really? Is there still anyone out there?

This blog should be called the blog which died after an international move. I last posted midway in September and it is nearly April. i.e right before Rosh HaShana, and it is nearly Pesach! So I will have to just write down the highlights. Over the past few months we have done the following:

- taken an international flight with a toddler - never again.
- not realised quite how long it takes to find a rental in Cape Town, so stayed with my lovely brother and sister in law for 6 long weeks, during a period where Davy was taking up to an hour of screaming to go to sleep. Poor them they ended up coming home later and later!
- found a house to live in - it is pretty, has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a nice big garden for Shaka.
- submitted an offer to purchase on said house - we'll see how that plays out, they may accept but then will the bank give us a mortgage? I don't know because...
- Bob has become self employed - after too many months of a bad boss giving him trouble, he has struck out on his own - he's doing okay but the bank is bound not to be too impressed, so hold thumbs for us.
- found a job - this is me. I'm working in a research unit at a university here - most people can guess which university. I've also applied for a permanent post in the department I used to work in - so again y'all can hold thumbs until I know.
- found a new love - trail running - this is more Bob and less so me. Cape Town is just fabulous in terms of mountains and trails so we're really enjoying this. It is quite punishing but much nicer than running on the road with stinky cars. I ran my first 5k trail run on Saturday - it was tres hard! My shins hurt today.
- found a lovely Nanny for Davy - she cleans the house and looks after him and makes life generally bearable. He is beginning to get bored at home though, so will be off to play school for a few days a week to find some friends.

righto that is all! more to come as I think I am boring my Facebook friends with my random babbling, so I need to bore all of you instead! :P
